Over What Hill?

By Ann Wilkes

Each new decade is cause for celebration. Not a milestone of how old we are
but rather a new era we are about to embark on in life's journey.
Embrace them all! They're all a gift from God.

20   You're really an adult. At eighteen, you're just a teenager with a few more privileges.

30   You're old enough to be taken seriously.

40   You're old enough to say NO.

50   You're old enough to have spontaneous fun without getting a babysitter.

60   You're old enough to retire and do what you want to do.

70   You're old enough to turn the tables on your kids and make them wait on you.
But if you keep walking you'll live to see more decade marks.

80   You're old enough to say what you think with impunity.

90   You're old enough to tell your relatives to get stuffed when they tell you you can't eat
bacon and eggs or donuts. You can always use the will for leverage.

100   Wow. You're a celeb! Keep movin' and pass on your secrets of longevity to your kids and their kids.

Words of wisdom from a mother of five who's age is equivalent to the answer to that nagging question:
What is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything? (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams).
